    Parlor Room Theater Company is a registered (c)(3) non-profit organization located and performing in the Washington, D.C. area. Our Mission Parlor Room Theater is committed to making quality theater that is affordable and accessible. Beginnings Parlor Room Theater began in the summer of with the DiSalvo brothers getting their friends together and putting on a play. The stunning voice of dramatic soprano Susan Neves rose to the lofty-beamed ceiling and filled a spectacular ‘concert hall’ before an intimate audience of opera aficionados and supporters of Vero Beach Opera at its annual Parlor Concert last Sunday.

    Rhapsody in Blue the Stage Musical showcases 25 year-old Gershwin’s genius in redefining American music and creating a new genre by fusing classical and jazz. The musical focuses on the five and a half weeks leading up to Gershwin performing the anthem of New York’s golden age for the first time at Aeolian Hall, Manhattan. Popular parlor songs were the main form of secular musical entertainment in the early years of the United States. They were heard regularly in the homes of our principal statesmen, authors, intellectuals, professionals, and businessmen. Laborers and slaves also sang them. They were the principal fare of concert and stage performances, and were freely interpolated into Italian operas.
